May 6 (LNGJ) - The American Bureau of Shipping was awarded the classification contract from Petronas of Malaysia for the company's second floating LNG facility "PFLNG 2" being built at the Samsung Heavy Industries yard in Geoje, South Korea. "This is a very significant award for us," says ABS Chairman and Chief Executive Christopher J. Wiernicki. "It also is the natural next step for an organization that is widely recognized as the leader in the classification of offshore production units and LNG ships." The production hull will be deployed over the Rotan gas field in Malaysian waters offshore Sabah, with first LNG scheduled for 2018.
