April 28 (LNG) - Switzerland has joined the port authorities of Antwerp, Mannheim, Rotterdam and Strasbourg in a joint venture agreement on the introduction of LNG in the Rhine-Main-Danube corridor.  This involves cooperation in research, promotion, knowledge transfer, legislation and bunker infrastructure. The aim of this "master plan" is to put LNG to full-scale use as a fuel for inland shipping on the corridor covering the three main European rivers. The European Union has provided a subsidy of 40 million euros ($55M) to support LNG infrastructure in the area.
