Aug 17 (LNGJ) - Uruguay plans to launch a tender as early as October for a floating storage and regasification facility to handle LNG imports, officials said. Uruguay previously planned a project called GNL del Plata, an onshore facility near the capital Montevideo. Uruguay and Argentina signed an Energy Cooperation Agreement in 2007 for the joint construction of the regasification facility in Uruguay, but that deal has now been shelved.
