Dec 7 - Brazilian state energy company Petrobras said it planned to make a decision in the first quarter of 2012 on its Floating LNG ambitions for which it has held a front-end engineering and design contest involving most of the world's main LNG engineering companies. The assurance came from Petrobras Chief Executive Jose Sergio Gabrielli at the World Petroleum Congress in Doha, Qatar. Petrobras has signed an agreement with the UK's BG Group and other feed-gas shareholders of pre-salt discoveries in deep waters of the Santos Basin. They envisage developing a liquefaction project producing around 3 million tonnes per annum of LNG.
