A meeting took place in Moscow between Russian and Japanese officials on energy issues, including the Vladivostok LNG project. Gazprom said the meeting looked at the growth of natural gas demand in Japan. The parties stressed the high potential of Russia as a source of future LNG supplies to Japan, Gazprom added, both from Vladivostok and through swap operations between European and Asian markets. Earlier this year, Gazprom and Japan Far East Gas Co., a consortium of Japanese energy companies, signed an agreement for a feasibility study for an LNG plant near Vladivostok.
