Although the oil and gas industry has seen floating liquefaction projects and prospects flourishing lately, there are some technical aspects which always raise a lot of questions and doubts.
Among them, ship-to-ship offloading systems probably hold the first place. Side-by-side offloading solutions have been developed and used in mild environments based on small-diameter flexible pipes or loading arms adapted to open-sea transfer.
But for harsher environments, systems with improved capabilities and availability are required.
