The US Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office has received an application from Cove Point LNG, requesting blanket authorisation to export LNG that previously had been imported into the US from foreign sources.

The volume listed in the application is up to the equivalent of 70 bill cu ft of natural gas for a two year period beginning 8th July, 2026.

Cove Point requested authorisation to export LNG from its terminal located in Calvert County, Maryland, to any country with the capacity to import LNG via LNGCs, and with which trade is not prohibited by US law or policy.

A US Federal Register Notice will be issued for the NFTA portion of this application, the energy office said.
