Libya’s National Oil Corp (NOC) has hired a salvage company to control the drifting unmanned Russian LNGC, ’Arctic Metagaz’.
The abandoned vessel is drifting towards the Libyan coast in what local officials described as a growing environmental and safety threat.
An emergency response team—co-ordinated through Mellitah Oil & Gas in partnership with Italy’s Eni—is to take over the disabled and abandoned vessel, which was hit by an explosion about 179 nautical miles off Malta in what the Russians claimed was an Ukrainian-led drone strike.
