Gas Malaysia has announced that it has received a formal letter to proceed from the Malaysian Energy Commission (EC) for a large LNG regasification terminal in Yan, Kedah.
Known as RGT Yan, this project is estimated to have a development cost of between RM2 bill and RM3 bill and will utilise an FSRU.
This development marks a shift for Gas Malaysia, as it moves towards large-scale upstream infrastructure to secure long-term gas supply for the peninsula.
