Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) is set to sign a final contract for the first newbuilding FLNG for US LNG developer, Delfin Midstream.
With Delfin signalling that the final investment decision (FID) will be made this month, this definitive final contract is expected to be signed next month or by the first half of this year at the latest, South Korean sources said.
Once financing is secured, the contract will be signed after the FID is taken.
Last year, Delfin CEO Dudley Poston revealed more orders could follow, when he forwarded a letter of award (LoA), a step before a final contract. He said that "a foundation has been laid not only for the first FLNG but also for contracts for the second and third units."
Delfin plans to build the three FLNGs, which will be moored off Louisiana and capable of producing up to a total of 13.2 mill tonnes of LNG annually.
