Specialist engineering company, EnerMech has won a contract from Bechtel to deliver chemical cleaning services for the Woodside Energy operated Pluto Train 2 LNG development in Karratha, Western Australia.
Bechtel is responsible for the EPC and commissioning of Pluto Train 2, which will expand Woodside’s existing LNG facility.
The project will process gas from the Scarborough field and add around 5 mill tonnes per annum of LNG capacity, while additional domestic gas infrastructure will increase output to around 225 terajoules per day.
EnerMech’s role will be to focus on cleaning critical process units, such as the acid gas removal unit (AGRU) and heated water system, with tailored solutions applied to each, ensuring adherence to project specifications and environmental standards.
This award follows EnerMech’s involvement in previous large-scale Australian LNG projects, including Curtis Island, Wheatstone and Gorgon.
Mobilisation to Pluto Train 2 is expected to begin this month. Planning and resourcing is already underway to ensure smooth execution aligned with construction schedules, the company said.
