According to the Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) latest short term report, the Henry Hub natural gas spot price is forecast to rise to an average of almost $3.90 per MMBtu this winter (November/March).

This follows seasonal patterns of prices rising during the winter alongside increased space heating demand.

Further, the EIA expected prices to average $4 per MMBtu in 2026, 16% higher than in 2025, primarily due to increased LNG exports amid flat production growth.

As for US LNG exports, the EIA predicted the country will export 14.9 bill cu ft per day this year, which is 25% more than in 2024.

Plaquemines LNG in Louisiana has ramped up exports more quickly than expected, leading the EIA to raise its LNG exports forecast in 4Q25 by 3%, compared with last month’s outlook.

US LNG exports will increase by an additional 10% in 2026, the EIA said.

Meanwhile, 34 LNGCs with a combined carrying capacity of 129 bill cu ft left the US between 6th and 12th November, according to shipping data provided by Bloomberg Finance.

Nine vessels left Sabine Pass, six from Plaquemines, five each from Corpus Christi and Freeport, four from Cameron, three from Calcasieu Pass and one each sailed from Cove Point and Elba Island.
