Berkshire Hathaway Energy’s US Cove Point LNG export plant in Maryland, has ceased operations for a planned three-week maintenance period.

It closed on 20th September and is due to re-open in Mid-October.

This planned shutdown temporarily reduced the flow of natural gas to the plant to almost zero, compared with a daily average of around 0.7 bill cu ft per day since August.

Cove Point has a liquefaction capacity of around 0.8 bill cu ft per day.

Berkshire Hathaway Energy owns 75% of Cove Point after completing a $3.3 bill acquisition of 50% of Dominion Energy in September, 2023.

Brookfield Asset Management holds the remaining 25%.
