Dec 23 (LNGJ) - Hyundai Heavy Industries of South Korea said it was selected to build three LNG carriers with capacities of 180,000 cubic metres for South Korean privately-run natural gas and energy company SK E&S, part of SK Holdings. The LNG carriers are scheduled to be completed in early 2019 and will lift cargoes from the US Freeport LNG export plant in Quintana Island, Texas, from where SK E&S has purchased 2.2 million tonnes per annum for a 20-year period. SK E&S is a rival to state-run Korea Gas Corp. and operates gas-fired power plants at Gwangyang and Oseong.
