Dec 18 (LNGJ) - Norwegian energy company Statoil has decided to cancel the contract with Transocean for the drillship "Discoverer Americas" that appraised the multiple high-impact natural gas discoveries offshore Tanzania that have become the basis of studies for a liquefied natural gas project. "The drillship has been on contract with Statoil since 2009, supporting Statoil's exploration activities in East and North Africa and the Gulf of Mexico," the company said. "Statoil was in the current environment unable to secure additional activity for the rig for the remainder of the contract period, ending in May 2016," it added.
