Oct 9 (LNGJ) - LNG buyer Electricite de France (EDF) has sold $4.75 billion of bonds, a method of corporate borrowing, in five tranches with maturities ranging from five years to 40 years. The bond sales included a $1.25Bln Green Bond, the largest ever on the corporate market, with a 10 year maturity and an interest coupon of 3.625 percent. "These transactions enable the group to further strengthen the structure of its balance sheet," said EDF, which recently purchased US LNG cargoes and has a majority stake in the new French LNG import terminal at Dunkirk. EDF is operator of the terminal with three 190,000 cubic metres capacity LNG storage tanks.
