Sept 30 - US investor Carl Icahn, who controls billions of dollars in equity funds, raised his stake in Houston-based LNG export project developer Cheniere Energy Inc. to 11.43 percent from a previous 9.59 percent. Icahn now hold more than 27 million Cheniere shares, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Icahn, who is known for acquiring large stakes in companies and agitating for corporate changes, reached an agreement with Cheniere to add two of his representatives to its board. Cheniere is scheduled to export the first US LNG from its industrial-scale export plant at Sabine Pass in Louisiana early in 2016.
