Sept 17 (LNGJ) - South Korea and Japan joined forces at the 4th LNG Producer-Consumer Conference in Tokyo to support a call for producers such as Qatar to drop restrictions prohibiting LNG buyers from diverting cargoes to third countries or regions not mentioned in the sales and purchase agreement. Satoshi Kusakabe, head of Japan's Natural Resources and Energy Agency, proposed a relaxing of the destination clause rule and was supported by Moon Jae-do, South Korea's vice minister of trade and industry, who said it was time for producing countries to  "abandon old business practices."
