Sept 14 (LNGJ) - The 10 major Japanese electricity companies imported 4.86 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas for their gas-fired power plants in August compared with 4.99MT in the same month a year ago, a fall of 2.5 percent, according to figures from the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan. The utilities, operating from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south, actually used 4.71MT of LNG to generate power last month compared with 4.84MT in the same month of 2014, a fall of 2.6 percent.
