POSCO offtakes Mexican LNG to fuel Korean power stations

South Korea’s POSCO has become the anchor customer for Mexico Pacific’s 15 mtpa LNG export project, agreeing to offtake 0.7 mtpa on a free-on-board basis for 20 years. Situated at Puerto Libertad, Sonora, it will liquefy gas sourced from the Permian Basin in Texas, providing the lowest landed price of LNG into Asia which lifts profit margins of Korean utilities.
