US gas prices to rise in Q1-2023 on winter demand and Freeport ramp up

Natural gas prices in the US are forecast to rise to over $6 per MMBtu in the first quarter of 2023 due to higher winter demand and rising exports as Freeport LNG is seen ramping up to reach full capacity in March. Meanwhile, capacity constraints on gas pipeline could make New England power price jump 35 percent to over $200 per MWh in January.
