By 2050, approximately 25 percent more natural gas will be produced than consumed in the United States, according to government projections. However, more than 35 percent of gross additions will be exported – mostly as LNG – while the share of gas in the domestic power gen mix stays constant, at about one-third from 2021 to 2050.
