Isolated LNG Export from Egypt

Tuesday, 10 October 2023

Egypt saw an isolated LNG export on Friday last week via the SK Resolute. The restart of Egyptian LNG exports, however, came only one day before Hamas’ attacks, which led to a swift shut-in of the Israeli Tamar platform. This is set to impede the reliable restart of Egyptian LNG shipments. Due to a heatwave and production issues, Egyptian LNG exports have plummeted by 67pct year-on-year, according to our data and calculations. This comes at an inopportune moment for the EU, which has benefitted from Israeli gas via Egyptian LNG exports.
