Vietnam To Seek LNG Imports by end-2022

Wednesday, 06 October 2021

Pressure from both long-standing climate commitments and rising energy demand have led Vietnam to seek LNG imports from next year. Overall, the country is planning 22 LNG to power projects, which could see LNG imports rise to 15mtpa by 2035. According to its commitments following the 2015 climate conference in Paris, Vietnam will cut greenhouse gas emissions by at least 9pct by 2030. Large parts of its power sector still rely on coal.
