Weak natural gas demand in the LNG-consuming countries of Asia and Europe, the start-up of new liquefaction capacity, and limited natural gas storage capacity in importing countries are expected to boost available supplies for the US.

BG Group said it signed an LNG project development agreement with China National Offshore Oil Corp. focused on the UK company’s Australian coal-seam gas-to-LNG venture at Curtis Island in Queensland.

South Hook LNG terminal in the UK has been inaugurated by the Queen, accompanied at the ceremony in Milford Haven, Wales, by other members of the British Royal family and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

Two new US LNG import terminals, Freeport LNG and Sabine Pass LNG, are making progress in their plans to re-export foreign-sourced LNG to make profits during global over-supply at a time when there is ample US natural gas on the market.
