Anadarko Petroleum Corp. of the US said it discovered more natural gas offshore Mozambique and its recoverable reserves could turn the southeast African nation into an LNG producer.

The LNG production plant in Libya at Marsa El-Brega could resume exports in the next couple of months if the security situation were to stabilize, and the facility could also have a full upgrade completed from plans drawn up before the political turmoil.

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission said it was seeking an environmental assessment of Freeport LNG’s plans to turn its import terminal in Texas into a liquefaction plant producing 12 million tonnes per annum for export.

Aker Solutions, the Norwegian energy and LNG engineering firm, said it aimed to hire 200 engineering personnel for a new London office and would raise that level to 500 by the end of 2015.
