US freeze to last over weekend as natural gas prices jump and consumption rises 26 percent

US natural gas consumption soared by 26 percent in the past week as spot prices jumped amid forecasts the winter freeze-up will last through January 7, while LNG exports amounted to five cargoes and pipeline exports to Mexico decreased by 5 percent.
