Santos, the Australian LNG player and developer, announced the appointment of Rod Duke from the Singapore LNG import terminal project to run the downstream development of the Gladstone coal-seam-gas-to-LNG venture in Australia.
Duke will be responsible for the delivery of the GLNG gas transmission pipeline and the LNG plant in Queensland and will report directly to Santos Chief Executive David Knox, Santos said.
He will also work closely with Santos Vice President for Queensland Trevor Brown, who is responsible for the delivery of the upstream component of the CSG-to-LNG project.
Santos said Duke had extensive global experience in the LNG industry and joins Santos from Singapore LNG Corp. where he held the position of Senior Vice President.
"Mr Duke has more than 28 years' experience in project management, engineering, construction, commissioning, operations, commercial, marketing and business development areas of the upstream natural gas and LNG industry," Santos said.
Santos CEO Knox said Duke's extensive experience in major LNG project development made him an ideal appointment to drive the GLNG project to first LNG in 2015. He will assume his new role in February.
Duke will succeed Mark Macfarlane who has decided to leave Santos after a 15-year career
with the company, Santos added.
"I would like to thank Mark for his significant contribution to Santos and the GLNG project. He has been an integral part of GLNG since 2010 and leaves the project in good shape. We wish him well for the future," Knox added.
The GLNG liquefaction plant and associated facilities is more than 45 percent complete and on track for its commercial start-up.
Duke started his career with Australia Woodside and has major EPC experience with the North West Shelf LNG Trains 1 and 2 and the Goodwyn platform.
More recently he was working on the Singapore LNG terminal, where he managed the EPC project to deliver an import terminal, three jetties, three LNG stoarge tanks and two gas pipelines.
