Bredero Shaw, a pipe-coating provider and subsidiary of Toronto-listed ShawCor Ltd., said it received a contract to supply pipeline coatings and related products and services for the flow-lines and tie-in spools for the Ichthys LNG project.
The contract was awarded by project offshore engineering company McDermott and was worth US$100 million, Bredero Shaw said.
This is the second contract Bredero Shaw has received for the Ichthys LNG project and is in addition to a contract for the gas export pipeline announced in February.
The Ichthys project is a joint venture between Japan's Inpex and France's Total to bring feed-gas from the Browse Basin to a liquefaction plant at Blaydin Point near Darwin.
When completed Ichthys LNG will produce 8.4 million tonnes of LNG.
The Bredero Shaw contract involves coating around 148 kilometres of 6-inch to 18-inch diameter pipe that will be protected with a three-layer polypropylene anti-corrosion coating and multi-layer polypropylene insulation.
Work will commence during the second quarter of 2013 and will be executed at Bredero Shaw's facilities in Kabil, Indonesia, and Kuantan, Malaysia.
"The Kabil and Kuantan facilities are technology-based, full service coating plants that were built specifically to process large, complex projects in the Asia-Pacific region," the company said.
