Inpex, the Japanese LNG developer, is assessing engineering, procurement and construction contracts for the Ichthys LNG project in Australia, and front-end engineering and design work on the Abadi Floating LNG venture in Indonesia will start in the first half of 2012.

A final investment decision on Ichthys LNG, which Inpex is developing with France's Total will be made within several weeks, Inpex Chief Executive Toshiaki Kitamura said in Tokyo.
