Israel said it planned to have an offshore LNG import facility operating by the end of 2012 to meet its growing short-term natural gas needs before the nation's new large offshore discoveries can be piped ashore from the end of 2013.
The terminal will be located in the Mediterranean 10 kilometres from the Israeli coastal town of Hadera and will be able to handle about 2.5 billion cubic metres per annum of regasified LNG.
