Japan leads in LNGC ownership value

Japan continued to hold the top LNGC ownership spot in terms of fleet value, according to VesselsValue.

As of this month, the Japanese LNG fleet is valued at $40.9 bill, up from $37.8 bill in February, 2024.

Japan also leads in LPG carrier ownership value and fleet size ($15.1 bill), reefers ($1.3 bill), and vehicle carriers ($24.8 bill).

Greece, which led the LNGC fleet value chart in 2021, is now in  second position with a 143 vessel fleet worth $32.4 bill. 

VesselsValue said that the Greek LNGC fleet’s value had increased by just over $1 bill in the past year.

However, China has overtaken Japan for the most valuable overall fleet, reaching $255 bill. This was attributed to China's leading positions in bulker and container fleet values, at $68.4 bill and $63.5 bill. respectively.
