New Zealand’s Prime Minister, Christopher Luxon and Energy Minister, Simeon Brown have unveiled plans to remove regulatory barriers to allow the building of an LNG import terminal.

In a package, which included allowing companies to build new power generation, giving hydro generators permission to draw down on their lakes and reviewing the wholesale electricity market, Brown said these actions, alongside previously announced policies like repealing Labour’s ban on new offshore oil and gas exploration, would address short, medium and long-term supply pressures.
