Seasonal rise in China-bound LNG cargoes contrasts with neighbours’ low demand

A marked increase in LNG shipments headed to China makes up most growth in Northeast Asia’s LNG demand while elsewhere, offtake is declining, shipbrokers at Poten & Partners find. China’s LNG imports are forecast to jump to 43.7 million tons this winter, up from 34.8 mt last winter, while gas demand dwindles in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan.
