LNG tankers retreat from Hormuz after vessel attacks

Five crude oil and LNG tankers have turned back after attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz following Iranian attacks on commercial shipping in the area. A missile strike on the Nakilat carrier Al Rekayyat, carrying Qatari LNG, risks undermining the tepid recovery in maritime traffic through the beleaguered waterway. Maritime authorities raised the risk level for transiting Hormuz to “severe.”
