Australian LNG imports to Japan have remained relatively steady year-on-year, with shipments to Japanese terminals estimated to have increased by about 10 percent, though the deliveries totals may level off in the future.

Over the first 20 years European regasification capacity grew to 50 billion cubic metres a year. Then it stalled for approximately a decade before exploding to - 200 Bcm/y over the last 13 years.

Natural gas produced from unitized reservoirs supplies six operating LNG export projects - PNG in Papua New Guinea, Tangguh in Indonesia, Snøhvit in Norway, Darwin in Australia, Gorgon in Australia, and Bontang in Indonesia.

The fall in the oil price and the knock on impact on LNG prices, together with the upcoming availability of new LNG supplies from projects under construction has cast doubts over the viability of many planned LNG facilities.
