Atlantic LNGC freight rates softened for a seventh consecutive week to $26,250 per day last Friday, while Pacific rates eased to $41,250 per day, according to Spark Commodities analyst, Qasim Afghan.

The US front-month arbitrage to northeast Asia via the Cape of Good Hope closed out further, strongly pointing to Europe.

This was driven by a recent fall in the JKM/TTF spread as the JKM failed to match the recent TTF rally, Afghan added.

Texas LNG heads for FID with latest RWE SPA

Glenfarne Group’s Texas LNG Brownsville has signed a definitive 20-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with RWE Supply & Trading for the supply of 1 mill tonnes per year of LNG.

Canadian engineering company, BC Hydro is to  build another power line, the Woodfibre LNG interconnection project stage 2, to ensure the under construction export plant has reliable access to clean and renewable power.

US LNGC sailings drop

Thirty-three LNGCs with a combined LNG-carrying capacity of 127 bill cu ft left US ports between 8th and 15th January, compared with 38 the week before.

Eight left Sabine Pass, seven from Plaquemines, five each from Cameron, Corpus Christi, and Freeport, two from Calcasieu Pass and one from Cove Point, according to data supplied by Bloomberg Finance to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
