Reports were circulating that QatarEnergy had restarted commissioning work for the first liquefaction train of the giant North Field East (NFE) $28.75 bill LNG expansion project, following the recent resumption of construction work.

As planned, NFE will consist of four new 8 mill tonnes per annum trains, totaling 32 mill tonnes per annum of new capacity.

Before the Middle East conflict, Qatar was aiming to lift its export capacity from 77 mill tonnes per annum to 110 mill tonnes, utilising the NFE project. The company also had further plans to increase the capacity to 142 mill tonnes per annum.

US LNG exports dropped slightly last month

US LNG exports fell to 10.48 mill tonnes last month from 10.6 mill tonnes recorded in June, according to preliminary data from financial firm LSEG, Reuters reported.

Belgium became entirely dependent on Russia for its LNG imports last month, as war in the Middle East severely disrupted alternative European supply routes.

As well as FPSOs, LNG supply tightness amid heightened energy security priorities and supply diversification imperatives is fuelling demand for FLNG and FSRU deployments as flexible, fast-to-market alternatives to conventional infrastructure, Singapore-based engineering company, Seatrium claimed.

Golar LNG Limited has closed a new $600 mill senior secured revolving credit facility (RCF).

The RCF further strengthens Golar’s balance sheet flexibility and facilitates for further FLNG growth, the company claimed.

It was secured by Golar’s investment in the MKII FLNG currently being converted in China to serve a 20-year contract with Argentina’s Southern Energy.

The facility received strong backing from a consortium of banks including ABN AMRO, Citibank, Danske Bank and Standard Chartered Bank, Golar said.

No Qatari LNG has arrived in Thailand since 7 March. That final cargo, delivered by the Shafallah, sailed from Ras Laffan on 12 February, before Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz in early March. April to July marks four consecutive months without a Qatari delivery, the longest interruption in LNG Journal records going back to 2017; no previous gap exceeded a single month.
