US’ largest LNG plant developer, Cheniere Energy’s subsidiary, Cheniere Marketing International, has agreed a long-term LNG sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with CPC Corp, Taiwan.

French energy major, TotalEnergies has signed a letter of intent (LoI) with Glenfarne, the lead developer of the Alaska LNG project, for the offtake of 2 mill tons per year of LNG over 20 years, subject to the project's final investment decision (FID).

US-based FSRU and LNG player, Excelerate Energy started LNG cargo deliveries into Bangladesh in January, 2026 under a 15-year LNG sale and purchase agreement (SPA) with QatarEnergy and Petrobangla.

Some 35 LNGCs left US export terminals this week, a rise of one on the previous week.

They had a carrying capacity of 135 bill cu ft, up 5 bill from the week before.

Nine vessels departed from Sabine Pass, seven from Corpus Christi, six from Plaquemines, four each from Cameron and Freeport, three from Calcasieu Pass, and one each from Cove Point and Elba Island, according to data supplied by Bloomberg Finance to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).

Australian gas exporters seek new buyers

Asia’s current weak LNG demand has resulted in Australia shipping a cargo to Eastern Canada, vessel tracking data compiled by Bloomberg showed.

Spain's energy company, Naturgy has €10.95 bill tied up in Russian LNG purchase commitments that may be affected from 2027 by the European Union ban on Russian LNG, according to its annual report.

Developers of the two large Mozambique projects, energy giants, TotalEnergies and ExxonMobil, have called for expressions of interest (EOIs) to provide maritime services for Area 1 (Mozambique LNG), led by the French company, and Area 4 (Rovuma LNG), led by its US counterpart.

They anticipate the movement of 400 LNGCs annually in the Afungi Peninsula, Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, and have issued a joint tender to hire seven support vessels and tugs.

Rovuma is still awaiting a final investment decision (FID), although the joint procedure is already underway.

These services include, in addition to personnel, five tugs with 80 tonnes of static traction, a pilot boat, and two workboats.

The tender projects the annual movement of 160 LNGCs and 10 condensate tankers for Area 1, and 220 LNGCs and 15 condensate tankers for Area 4.

Included in the UK’s largest sanctions package against Russia since the early months of the Ukraine war, is the LNG sector.
