PETRONAS ties up LNGCs on long term charters
PETRONAS LNG has signed a 20-year timecharter agreement with affiliate MISC Group (MISC) for five newbuilding 174,000 cu m LNGCs.
This reinforces its long-term LNG supply reliability, while supporting customers’ energy transition towards a lower-carbon future, the Malaysian energy major said.
This followed the conclusion of shipbuilding contracts between MISC and China’s Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) in January and February, 2026.
The vessels will be constructed in Shanghai with charter commencements expected between 2029 and 2030.

Tokyo Gas to supply LNG to Shizuoka Gas
Japan’s Tokyo Gas and Shizuoka Gas have signed a mid- to long-term contract under which, Tokyo Gas will supply five LNG cargoes annually to the smaller energy company, starting in 2027.
All change at Awilco
Awilco LNG’s CEO, Jon Skule Storheill is to step down with immediate effect by mutual agreement.
In his place, the Board has appointed CFO Per Heiberg as interim CEO, pending the appointment of a successor.
In addition, Awilco’s Board nomination committee will propose that Anders Onarheim be elected Chairman at the forthcoming AGM.
Onarheim has extensive experience in both the maritime industry and the broader energy markets, as well as having spent more than 25 years in the capital markets.
