Sept 23 (LNGJ) - LNG importer Japan is continuing to change the face of its energy industry under deregulation, with city-gas companies and power providers able to operate in other markets. Chubu Electric Power Co. and Inpex Corp., the developer of an Australian LNG export plant, are to begin supplying wholesale electricity to Seibu Gas, Matsumoto Gas and Suwa Gas, sourcing the power from Diamond Power Corp., a Chubu Electric subsidiary. Seibu Gas, Matsumoto Gas and Suwa Gas are city-gas companies providing services in the Saitama and Nagano regions.
March 24 (LNGJ) - The Japanese Gas Association said the nation’s 206 city-gas companies sold 36.77 billion cubic metres of natural gas, the equivalent of 27.2 million tonnes of LNG, in 2015, a 1.1 percent decline on the 2014 figure. On an annual basis, residential sector sales decreased by 1.7 percent to 9.44 Bcm, commercial sales dropped 1.3 percent to 4.27 Bcm, industrial volumes were 0.8 percent lower at 20.13 Bcm and wholesale volumes fell 1.1 percent to 2.91 Bcm.
