Enagás, the Spanish natural gas operator and LNG terminal owner, reported an almost 15 percent rise in net profits as it enacted special working measures to keep LNG flowing at its three main regasification terminals.
Italian energy company Eni and Sonatrach, the Algerian state-run company and LNG producer, have completed the construction of the natural gas pipeline connecting the Bir Rebaa Nord and Menzel Ledjmet Est fields in the Berkine Basin in southeast Algeria.
Gas Natural Fenosa, the Spanish utility with liquefied natural gas contracts at the US Sabine Pass facility and Russia’s Yamal LNG as well as businesses such as the Maghreb-Europe gas pipeline and gas distribution in five Latin American countries, posted a first-quarter jump in revenues and net income.
March 2 (LNGJ) - Spain has been supplying additional supplies of natural gas to France through pipeline inter-connections between the two countrfies during the current cold snap sweeping Europe. Spanish network operator Enagas, which itself receives natural gas in the form of pipelines imports from North Africa and LNG shipments, said its supplies to France come at a time when there is a low level of storage in Europe due to recent demand. Enagas said that for example on February 28, the Spanish gas system supplied a total of 22 gigawatt hours (GWh) of natural gas to France through the interconnections at Irun in Guipuzcoa and at Larrau in Navarra. “This figure is equivalent to supplying a city like Zaragoza for a day,” said Enagas.
Feb 20 (LNGJ) - Enagas, the Spanish natural gas transmission company that controls most of the nation’s LNG import terminals and has other assets in South America and elsewhere, posted net profits of 490.8 million euros ($606.4M) in 2017. The profits were 17.6 percent higher than in the previous year because of the full integration of its increased stake in the Chilean LNG import terminal company, GNL Quintero. Enagas said its earnings performance was helped by the third consecutive year of increased natural gas demand in Spain, reaching 351 terawatt hours in 2017.
Jan 22 (LNGJ) - The 145,000 cubic metres capacity “LNG Enugu” will deliver a cargo on January 23 to the Huelva import terminal in southwest Spain from the Bonny Island plant in Nigeria, according to shipping data. The 135,000 cubic metres capacity “Hyundai Oceanpia” will unload a shipment on February 3 at the Pyeongtaek terminal in South Korea from Oman LNG. The 147,200 cubic metres capacity vessel “Arctic Lady” will deliver a cargo on February 5 to the French Fos Cavaou terminal, near the Mediterranean port of Marseille, from the Hammerfest plant in Norway operated by Statoil.
Spanish net liquefied natural gas imports rose almost 5 percent last month compared with the same month a year ago as more of the fuel was needed for power generation and to offset lower pipeline imports from North Africa.
Oct 12 (LNGJ) - The 141,000 cubic metres capacity carrier “LNG Akwa Ibom” will deliver a shipment on October 14 to the Huelva import terminal in southwest Spain from the Bonny Island plant in Nigeria, according to shipping data. The 145,700 cubic metres capacity carrier “LNG Benue” will unload a cargo on October 23 at the Bilbao terminal in northwest Spain from Nigeria LNG. The 165,000 cubic metres capacity vessel “LNG Fukurokuju” will deliver a cargo on October 18 to Japan’s Himeji terminal from the Australia Pacific LNG plant at Curtis Island in Queensland. The 177,000 cubic metres capacity vessel “Energy Horizon” is scheduled to unload a shipment on October 19 at the Japanese Sodegaura import terminal, operated by Tokyo Gas, from Australian company Woodside’s export terminal at Dampier in Western Australia.
Oct 3 (LNGJ) - Natural gas demand in Spain, Europe’s biggest LNG importer, increased by 13 percent in September compared with the same month a year ago. “So far this year, demand for natural gas in Spain has increased by more than 9 percent, due to growth in conventional demand (4.5 percent) and natural gas deliveries to power generation plants (around 33 percent),” said Enagas, Spain’s network operator and main LNG import terminal owner. Enagas added that industrial demand was growing at around 7 percent compared with 2016 and demand for natural gas for electricity generation in September reached 7,085 gigawatt hours.
Spain imported 19 LNG cargoes last month as natural gas demand growth reached record levels and its six operating regasification facilities supplied gas-fired power plants.
