The Canadian federal government has given conditional approval to the Pacific NorthWest LNG project being developed by Malaysian energy company Petronas with 190 mitigation measures attached, including for the first time the imposition of a maximum cap on greenhouse gas emissions.

Canadian Federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna may announce a decision before the end of September on whether to grant final permits to the Pacific NorthWest LNG export project being developed by Petronas of Malaysia with other Asian energy company shareholders.
