EQT Corp., the largest shale-gas operator in the US Appalachian Basin and a future LNG market stakeholder, has completed the acquisition of Equitrans Midstream earlier than expected after the Equitrans-operated Mountain Valley Pipeline came online in June 2024.
McDermott International, the US energy and LNG project contractor, said it had entered into an agreement with lenders for access to up to $1.7 billion of additional financing, including letters of credit as it embarks on a company overhaul to regain profitability.
The number of final investment decisions for LNG projects hit the lowest level since 1999 this year with just 3.8 million tonnes per annum of capacity committed compared with an average of 23 MTPA from 2009 to 2015, meaning that the industry could be on track for a new boom after 2020, according to a report.
