April 21 (LNGJ) - Australian Industrial Energy (AIE) said that the state of New South Wales had approved modifications to the capacity of the Port Kembla LNG and gas terminal project. “The modification to the original development consent will satisfy the market need for more gas during the cooler winter months,” said AIE.
“It allows an increase in throughput, as well as an increase in the number of LNG cargoes able to be received at each year, without modifying the design,” said AIE. The project is backed by the world’s largest LNG purchaser, JERA Co. Inc. of Japan, the Japanese trading house Marubeni Corp and Australian mining billionaire Andrew Forrest’s Squadron Energy.
