June 7 (LNGJ) - Japanese energy company Inpex Corp., the developer of the Ichthys LNG project in Australia and other ventures, said it was now planning to start drilling operations on an exploratory well offshore Japan. The drilling will take place off the coast of the prefectures of Shimane and Yamaguchi. The drilling operations are part of a project commissioned by the Agency of Natural Resources and Energy of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. ”Inpex plans to determine the presence of hydrocarbon deposits in the area by conducting a detailed analysis and evaluation of data obtained through the exploratory drilling,” the company said.
