April 20 (LNGJ) – The Dutch port of Rotterdam said it handled roughly the same volume of cargo in the first quarter of 2016 as in the same three months last year, apart from in liquefied natural gas. The Port said the only segment that saw considerable decline in its throughput volumes was LNG at the Gate import terminal, which was down by 72.6 percent or 100,000 tonnes. A substantially lower volume of LNG was re-exported to non-European Union destinations in the three months. “LNG throughput volumes are expected to recover over the remainder of 2016,” the Port said.
