Jan 26 (LNGJ) - The Yemen LNG plant at Balhaf on the Gulf of Aden has stopped production and evacuated foreign works from the facility operated by French energy company Total because of unrest in the country, executives said. The closure of the liquefaction plant with 6.7 million tonnes per annum of production will affect cargo deliveries to countries such as South Korea, one of the biggest buyers of volumes. Yemen LNG's shareholders also include the Yemeni state energy company, Hunt Oil of the US and three South Korean companies, Korea Gas Corp. SK Innovations and Hyundai Corp. The plant had continued production despite numerous unscheduled shutdowns over the past two years because of attacks on its feed-gas pipeline by saboteurs.
