Jan 9 (LNGJ) - The Baker Hughes US onshore well count for the fourth quarter of 2014, a measure of shale production activity, was 9,544 wells, an increase of 461 wells, or 5 percent, compared with the fourth quarter of 2013. Compared with the third quarter 2014, the well count increased most notably in the Utica Shale, up 12 wells or 12 percent, and the Marcellus Shale, up 11 wells or 2 percent basins. Shale-gas production will underpin the US LNG export industry from 2016.
