Nov 14 (LNGJ) - UK shipbroker Clarkson, with LNG carrier broking desks in London, Houston and Singapore, is in discussions with Norwegian counterpart RS Platou over a possible takeover deal. Clarkson said it was talking to the board of Platou regarding the possible acquisition of all Platou’s issued shares. Clarkson, listed on the London Stock Exchange, employs over 1,000 people and had revenues of 198 million pounds ($310M) last year. “Given the complementary activities, in terms of geographic locations, operations and industry specialisation, the boards of both Clarkson and Platou believe the enhanced offering of the combined business positions the enlarged group as a leading integrated global shipping and offshore group,” a statement said. Platou also has an investment banking division licenced to operate in Norway and the US.
